My Personalized Couponing Envelopes

Image
I plan to post on my method of couponing soon, but for now, I want to show you the little project I did to make my couponing prettier. Yes, prettier. I like pretty, colorful things. :) Before I go grocery shopping, I plan out what I am going to get at each store, with the appropriate coupons. Carrying around all those coupons gets confusing, so I needed a more streamlined method so I would have the coupons for each store at my fingertips. Or maybe I'm just way to OCD organized. Either one. :) I took a regular, letter-sized envelope: I picked out a fun, colorful scrapbook paper and measured out the dimensions of the envelope, then glued it to the outside of the envelope. It was slightly not cool to have the flap just, um, flapping. And because of the way I covered the back of the envelope, I couldn't tuck it in. So I took the edge of my scissors and made a tiny slit in the scrapbook paper (but not the envelope itself) so I could tuck the tip of the flap in. See, here is the obli...

Image
Yes, this is my 2 0 0 t h post on the ol' blog! What should we do to celebrate?? Hmm, good question.... How about I share 200 observations about blogging? No? Okay, how about just 20. I'll spare you the other 180....just because I'm feeling generous today. :) Here are 20 random observations I've made about blogging: 1. Its fun. Someday I think it would be great to do some full-time blogging. Not sure if that will happen, but it sure would be fun! 2. This here blog has had 7,476 page-views in the last almost-two years. 3. This here blog has also had 198 comments. Out of over 7,000 pageviews??? Hmmm, I think my readers need to step it up a notch. ;) 4. I currently follow 49 blogs. Considering that when I started this blog, I regularly read a whopping 2, that is quite an improvement. 5. Oh, and those two blogs I read were Holly's (my bff) and Andrea's (an old RA and friend of mine from my college days). In case that was bugging you. 6. I really admire people tha...

Coffee Chats: Stressed Spelled Backwards

Image
Holly: Sad confession: I have no coffee goin' on today. Too busy painting here . Of course, maybe I should make some coffee so I can keep going.... Nicole: Sadness..I actually forgot to turn the coffee pot on, so I grabbed a Starbucks frap from the refrigerator. I've been saving it for such a time as this. I did just eat an Activia Strawberry Cheesecake yogurt cup, in case anyone is interested. Holly: Healthy you. You'll lose up to two dress sizes in 16 days if you keep that up....or something like that :) Nicole: Yay! Holly: Nicole, you'd disappear. Nicole: Tee hee.... Ok, so not really...it sounds good though! Holly: Sure does! Nicole: So how about we talk about some cooking. Holly: Sounds yummy! Nicole: Namely, desserts, since its almost pie-day. Holly: Even better that just "food". Nicole: Oh yes, absolutely! Holly: So who taught you to love desserts? Nicole: Well, I don't think anyone had to teach me, I probably come by it very naturally! :) But I ...

Make Your Own Lemonade Slushi! (Or whatever other flavor you want)

Image
I love, love, LOVE any type of slushi, icee, snow cone, etc, etc. You get the idea. Sonic is my friiieeeeend. And I am a firm believer in the fact that these are all good for you. I mean, its ice right? That counts as a form of hydration, RIGHT?? I'm always looking for ways to make my own yummy drinks without having to buy a special machine (i.e., a snow cone maker) or, heaven forbid, buy a drink. Because that would be simply terrible. One day, I had this great inspiration! I poured some lemonade in a ziplock bag. I poured just enough so there was a thin layer of lemonade ice in the bag after I froze it flat. Here is my thin layer of lemonade ice: The idea behind the thin layer is so I can easily crush it with my #1 machine: my hand. Hey, freakishly long fingers were created before any machines were! So, I "massaged" the bag and got the ice all crushed up. Worked like a charm! I dumped my "shaved ice" in a cup, And then poured in more lemonade. I poured in jus...

Free Wall Art

Image
I mentioned in our last coffee chat that I had not done much fall decorating. Totally uninspired, being in Florida. But while clicking around on Pinterest , all of the great inspiration got me...well, inspired! Thanks to a great tip from Emily , I found a site with a bunch of free fall printables . I printed off one that I thought would look good in my house. But what to do with it?? Especially when I plan to spend exactly $00.00 on this project?? Take a gooooood look at this picture, and see if you can guess what I did: (sorry for the blurriness...) Well first, I scrounged through the whole house looking for a good picture frame. (Remember: this isn't my house, so I am limited as to what I can do.) I came up with, natta. So, then I scrounged the house looking for anything else I could use for anything .  And I came up with.....a shoe box lid!! Yup, can you believe it?? That is really a shoe box lid covered in scrapbook paper with my printable stuck on the front. I adapted the ide...

Coffee Chats: Fall Fun

Image
Holly: Ok, let’s get the important stuff out of the way: what is your legal addictive stimulant of choice this week? Nicole: Seatles Best Hazlenut (sensing a pattern? Seatles Best was on sale) Holly: Gotta love sales! Nicole: Yeah, it was BOGO and I had $1/1 coupons, so thats technically $2 off one, plus one free...can't go wrong. Holly : Ha, that's the reason my computer is running crazy slow right now...I’m trying to print coupons for milk and cream cheese. {coupons.com, if you all are interested} Nicole: Smart lady Holly: And I’m thoroughly enjoying Folgers Vanilla Biscotti. Ok, so: fall. Does it feel like fall in Florida right now? Nicole: Absolutely not! We are still feeling the summer vibe down here - 80+ degrees most days. Right now it is 83, and it has been overcast all day. What about in North Carolina? Holly: We're getting there. Slowly. The weekend we moved was really cold, wearing sweatshirts cold, but it got back up to the 80's recently. I just heard today...

DIY: 3-D Framed Butterflies

Image
So, this totally happened like three months ago, but I didn't have a camera to take pictures of it. So you get the blessing of seeing this project now! Aren't you lucky? I first saw this project over on I {heart} Organizing, where Jen made this 3-D butterfly . I've since seen similiar projects on Pinterest . One with apples, how cool is that? But butterflies won me over. I've had this thing for butterflies ever since I had butterfly wallpaper as a little girl. But that is not what I got on here to talk about. I checked out a nearby discount store for the "perfect" frame. (Perfect means cheap in my book, of course) I found this one Beal's Outlet. Don't be deceived by this picture...I actually got it for much cheaper than the price tag says. (%50 or something? I don't remember exactly) I don't have very detailed pictures of the process (like I said, I was sans camera) but here is the basic gist. I took out the mat that came with the frame, which ...
