"Frasier Island" Book Review and Giveaway!
Last month I spoke at a Christian Writer's Conference and met beautiful authors such as Susan Page Davis. I recently read her book, Frasier Island, and I am so excited to tell you about it!
It is easy to tell when you've got your hands on a good book, and friends, this is a good book. It is full of mystery and intrigue, unexpected twists and plots, and just enough romance woven through to make it not over-the-top-lovey-dovey. Romance novels aren't really my thing, but a well written, informative, interesting mystery is!
The story line takes Ensign Rachel Whitney to a new post on a remote scrap of rock in the Pacific called Frasier Island. Living there in isolation with two other soldiers, both Rachel and Lt. George Hudson are running from their past...and ultimately towards each other. While guarding a highly classified secret for the US Government, Rachel comes to realize the importance of letting God have His rightful place in her life.
It is rare for a woman to be put in this position that Rachel finds herself in, and she feels she is equal to the task. But do her fellow soldiers think so? She helps them in more ways than just doing the cooking and cleaning. And you won't believe the secret they are keeping...from her.
I enjoy a book in which the author has clearly done the research and provides interesting information and facts that contribute to the story line. I came away from this story feeling that I learned much about the US military and government. I also gained even more of an appreciation for our soldiers and the way they sacrifice their lives for our protection and freedom.
I read this book in two sittings....it is that good. If you enjoy well-written, informative novels you will enjoy Frasier Island! You can purchase it in paperback, Kindle or Nook formats. It is the first in a 3-book series (although each can be read independently as well) so look for Finding Marie and Inside Story as well!
The exciting news? Susan Page Davis has agreed to give away a copy of Frasier Island to one of my readers!
Follow the prompts in the Rafflecopter below to enter to win - the first entry is mandatory, the others are extra credit! The giveaway will end next Wednesday night at midnight and the winner will be announced here on the blog and on my Facebook page. Nicole, thanks so much for featuring my book!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure! =)
DeleteWow, Nicole -- you didn't ask an easy question! ;-) I am intrigued by your review of Frasier Island and would be interested in reading that one. I'm also curious about the Texas Trails series. I'll have to check those out...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah! Texas Trails is an amazing series of six books written by me and two other authors. Each book about the Morgan family can be read separately. They're set in different decades of Texas history. My two books in that series are Captive Trail and Cowgirl Trail. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed all of Susan's books I have read thus far, and this one sounds as good as her other ones. I love being able to get early books of an author through these new methods.

DeleteNicole,
ReplyDeleteYou def peaked my interest in this book after I read your review....ahhhhhh!!! :) I am dying to know what the secret is that they are keeping from her! :) ~Jess
I think that the Christmas Tree Bride looks good! :) I think it might have something to do with the fact that I am excited about Christmas coming!!!! ~Jess
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jess! I do love Christmas stories too. I was blessed this year to be part of three collections--the 12 Brides of Christmas series, the Westward Christmas Brides collection, and Guideposts' Cup of Christmas Cheer story collection. Of course, I usually end up writing them in the summertime...
DeleteThere are a bunch that sound really interesting, so it was hard to choose! :[ I think I'd go with Cowgirl Trail!
ReplyDeleteThat one was a lot of fun. I always thought it would be cool to go on a cattle drive. But the research told me what hard work it would really be.
DeleteThanks for the giveaway, I love reading new books! I have not heard of the author but I am excited to give a book a try
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part, Trish Anne!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like the Mainely Series. :)
ReplyDeleteI've read several of Susan's historical novels and really enjoyed them, especially her Prairie Dream series. I se she has a novella included in the Westward Christmas Brides collection, I would enjoy that I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the good turnout. I hope it's okay to say this here: the collection Patty mentioned, Westward Christmas Brides, is being given away at the Inspirational Histoircal Fiction site this week, so if you'd like to enter a giveaway for a different one of my books, here it is:
