As A Little Child

Image
Tuesdays are my piano teaching days. I have four students, and I like to call myself the "travelling teacher" because I go to the student's homes to teach them. We have a great schedule worked out that allows me to visit each home for a 45 minute lesson and even get to work on time at 2:45. In the middle of that busy, ram-the-roads day, I take my lunch to a local park. It is in a pretty secluded spot, and while there are a few others there on lunch break sometimes, it is often a quiet place where I have a half hour to enjoy the peace. The scenery lately has been beautiful. Situated on a river, the leaves peaked in their full autumn glory and the acorns have fallen thick on the ground. There is park benches and a swing set that always sit empty, squirrels darting back and forth beneath. But not this day. I saw his face as his mom parked their car beside mine. He didn't seem to see me, his only purpose was to get out of the car as quickly as he could. I didn't hear ...

"Frasier Island" Book Review and Giveaway!

Image
Last month I spoke at a Christian Writer's Conference and met beautiful authors such as Susan Page Davis. I recently read her book, Frasier Island , and I am so excited to tell you about it! It is easy to tell when you've got your hands on a good book, and friends, this is a good book . It is full of mystery and intrigue, unexpected twists and plots, and just enough romance woven through to make it not over-the-top-lovey-dovey. Romance novels aren't really my thing, but a well written, informative, interesting mystery is! The story line takes Ensign Rachel Whitney to a new post on a remote scrap of rock in the Pacific called Frasier Island. Living there in isolation with two other soldiers, both Rachel and Lt. George Hudson are running from their past...and ultimately towards each other. While guarding a highly classified secret for the US Government, Rachel comes to realize the importance of letting God have His rightful place in her life. It is rare for a woman to be pu...

Hot Caramel Apple Cider

Image
One of the fun things about the changing seasons is the flavors that come with each one. This fall, I've been enjoying some of the autumn flavors - one of them being this hot apple cider. It is so simple, I've just been keeping these ingredients on hand so I can enjoy this often. In fact, some days I drink this instead of my afternoon cup of coffee...that is a big step, folks! It is just that good! Just pour apple cider into a mug with a little squirt of caramel syrup. Heat in the microwave (or on the stove top if you prefer) to a comfortable temperature. Top with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle. A dash of cinnamon might be good too! And enjoy the taste of fall! I love to pair this with a homemade pumpkin scone (I use this recipe. ) Yum! What are your favourite flavors of fall? I'd love some new recipes to try, leave them in the comments!
