MSG and Tuna Casserole

Image
I'm going to make my disclaimer right now: if you are here looking for a healthy recipe, you can just close this window and go on with your day. This recipe is about the farthest from healthy as you can possibly get. Don't get me wrong, I certainly think that it is far better to eat healthy, nourishing foods, and I try to do that 99% of the time. But the other 1%....I make this casserole. A good friend in Nova Scotia introduced it to me, and its become a comfort food. And you don't mess with comfort foods. Although if you did want to mess with this, you could probably make a healthy version of it pretty easily. So if you want a terribly-bad-for-you casserole that you can turn into something good for you, press 1. If you want a new comfort food, press 2. If you want me to get to the point, press 3. Start by preparing a box of Kraft Dinner according to the directions on the box. Aka, boil water, add noodles, and cook until tender. Add the other ingredients listed on the box:

My Couponing Methods

Image
Couponing is huge these days. Partially because of that show, Extreme Couponing, and partially because everyone is looking for a way to save a buck. Um, that would be me. I definitely got into the couponing game to help save me money. The resources are endless, and I feel like I only tapped into the surface. It can be super overwhelming when you are just getting started, so I thought I'd share my super simple method in hopes that it will help someone else out there. To give credit where credit is due, my church here in Florida hosted a small couponing seminar, taught by a couple of people in the church. They are the pros, let me tell you. A lot of my knowledge came from them. A few other things I picked up along the way. And all of it I adapted to fit my needs and my budget. The #1 place I get coupons is from local paper inserts. The two common ones are Smart Source and Red Plum. Occasionally there is a PandG Brandsaver in there as well. Here is the what the experts say: buy one Su

A Blinding Project

Image
I tackled another project this week: cleaning the blinds in my bedroom. I have two big windows like this: The picture (and horrible lighting) make it really hard to tell, but the windows are bi-ig. Which means the blinds are bi-ig. And dirty. Because the windows here in Florida are not airtight. Its the wierdest thing! I mean, what keeps the heat in?? Oh wait... The point is, the non-air-tight windows let dirt in, especially when it rains. So the blinds were dirty. Here was my plan: 1. Take blinds down 2. Put them in the bathtub to soak, while I go out and blow leaves. 3. Drain the water and allow them to dry. 4. Hang them back up. ... What really happened: I got up on the bed to take the blinds down, and decided I needed to wash the curtains, too. Those came down and went in the washer, and I got to work taking the blinds down. These blinds had the most peculiar way of covering up the hardware that I've ever seen. It was just two slats, clipped in these little plastic clips. Easy

Coffee Chats: Making a list and checking it twice

Image
Hey folks! It us again, here with another edition of coffee chats! Today we're chatting about our gift giving and holiday shopping this year. Enjoy the read, and we hope you join our chat in the comments section! Holly: So. Christmas shopping. Nicole: Yes! Are you in the mood for Christmas yet? Holly: Yes and no. I really am looking forward to the decorating and all that good stuff. But I just can't get in the whole Christmas spirit yet since it's still technically fall. I have been listening to Christmas music though. You? Nicole: Welll, I'm getting there. Hearing Christmas music playing in Wal Mart last night helped! But Florida doesn't exactly lend itself to a Christmasy feel, if ya know what I mean. Probably when I get to Nova Scotia next week, I'll be ready for Christmas! Holly: I'm sure. The weather will certainly be a little colder! Nicole: Um, yes. We aren't talking abo ut th at. Holly: Ok then. :) Nicole: How much Christmas shopping do you have

The Pinterest Challenge: Spray Paint Things White

I am so excited to be joining the Pinterest challenge that Sherry and Katie are hosting! I've mentioned before how I have a fetish for those girls and their blogs. They are my daily dose of laughter and inspiration. Being able to join their party is uh-mazing. Here are  Sherry's and Katie's posts, as well as two more sponsors of this challenge, Erin and Ana . (Does anyone else really like to say those two names together? Erin and Ana, Erin and Ana...) There are so many fantastic ideas on Pinterest, it was hard to decide which thing to tackle! But here is the inspiration picture that I decided on:                                                                                              Source: westelm.com via Nicole on Pinterest My exact words when I pinned that picture were, "I have a small wooden tray, and I need something to corral my remotes and things on the coffee table. Hmmm..." Well, get ready, because I finally made it happen! I had picked up a
