Any journey happens step by step, and not all at once. That is also exactly how my healthy living journey is evolving - step by tiny step as resources and knowledge become available. One of the areas I have experimented in is using products that are safe and natural for cleaning and household tasks . I'm excited to share 3 out-of-the-ordinary places I have found that I can REALLY clean without ANY chemicals! (I also share some other cleaning resources at the end of this post, so read on!) You may be a little skeptical, and I'll admit, I was too! Can things really get clean without powerful, smelly sprays and concentrates to kill all those nasty germs? Well to the skeptic I promise you... here are 3 areas that really can! 1. Shower and faucet heads. Use white vinegar diluted in water to get of all water stains and build up with no scrubbing! (You can find all kinds of instructional posts on Pinterest like this one .) I recently did this with our shower and tub and W

Food on Friday: The edition where I bought too much food

So, tomorrow my brother comes home from college and spends a week with me before going on to Nova Scotia. Which totally gave me the excuse to do this... There I am, just filling up the backseat with groceries! I normally only have like one bag of groceries for myself! I may have gone *slightly* overboard and absolutely spent more than my usual budget. But a college man has to eat, right? This also gave me the chance to stock up on some things since I had let my groceries practically run out before my trip to Canada . I also tried to make some things up ahead so there will be meals he just has to heat up while I am at work. I cooked up some meat for tacos and also made these breakfast burrito bites  from Ella Claire Inspired  for an easy breakfast. In the next couple of days I will cook up the brussels sprouts and quinoa as well. I don't do much meal planning in the traditional sense, but I do mentally map out what we have for meals and then have a bunch of options for

Canada Trip, 2016

During the month of April I got to take a 10-day trip to Nova Scotia! It had been over a YEAR since I had visited, so this trip was Looooong overdue. It was so refreshing to visit the old stomping grounds and remember how much I loved living in those small, country communities. Here are a few pictures (ok, more than a few!) to highlight the trip: Four-wheeled out to this "balancing rock" with a good friend! "The hills are alive!" Judah had been saying for weeks that he wanted to dress up like "Patch the Pirate"...so I pulled together this outfit for him with clothes he already had and scraps of cloths. Pretty cute! As birthday/Christmas gifts for both of us, Dad took Rachel and I to see the Harlem Globetrotters in Halifax! It was such a fun night! The Globetrotters were crazy and we laughed so hard at their antics! It was a great way to end a fun trip.
