Make Your Own Lemonade Slushi! (Or whatever other flavor you want)

I love, love, LOVE any type of slushi, icee, snow cone, etc, etc. You get the idea. Sonic is my friiieeeeend. And I am a firm believer in the fact that these are all good for you. I mean, its ice right? That counts as a form of hydration, RIGHT??

I'm always looking for ways to make my own yummy drinks without having to buy a special machine (i.e., a snow cone maker) or, heaven forbid, buy a drink. Because that would be simply terrible. One day, I had this great inspiration!

I poured some lemonade in a ziplock bag. I poured just enough so there was a thin layer of lemonade ice in the bag after I froze it flat. Here is my thin layer of lemonade ice:

The idea behind the thin layer is so I can easily crush it with my #1 machine: my hand. Hey, freakishly long fingers were created before any machines were! So, I "massaged" the bag and got the ice all crushed up.

Worked like a charm!

I dumped my "shaved ice" in a cup,

And then poured in more lemonade.

I poured in just enough to be about level with the top of the ice.

By not putting in too much liquid, it turns the ice into more of a slushi texture, without being straight ice and without being lemonade with ice in it. Just enough ice + just enough liquid = perfect slushi. Perfect, cheap slushi.

And, there you have it! It was delish! Now I'm dreaming up all different flavors and types of drinks I could use. Any juice would work, and maybe coffee?? Oh my. Dreamland. Maybe I will freeze lemonade and then add liquid iced tea....that would be good too. I could freeze coffee and add chocolate milk... did I mention the possibilities are endless?
