I Love This Bag!

Monday, when I gave you an update on my goals from last week, I mentioned that I had decided to make an unexpected tote bag, added to the three I was planning on making for my shop.

Here is the whole story:

I finished the first three tote bags Wednesday afternoon. Those three are for a special project I'm doing right now! They are the smaller sized totes in my shop. As I was finishing those, I got to thinking, It would be nice to have one of these smaller bags to carry my bible and stuff around in during the teen retreat this weekend.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized I HAD TO HAVE A BAG TO CARRY MY BIBLE AND STUFF IN DURING TEEN CAMP OR I WOULD DIE!

Not literally. But in a very real, gottahaveit way. You know what I mean.

So, right then and there, I started it. And managed to finish it Thursday, in plenty of time for teen camp Friday.

Friends, I know I'm a little biased because, for Pete's sake I made the thing, but I love it! I mean, LOVE love it! It was so handy to have, everything I needed fit inside so great, and I just loved it. Really.

So, I thought it would be fun to show you what I carried in it and how it held everything I needed. This is what I used at camp:

It carried,

My Bible
a notebook
my wallet
and an umbrella, not pictured.

In the pocket, I put,

The verse cards I'm studying right now
a small notebook that goes everywhere with me
a pen
a highlighter
mints
tracts

Did I mention how perfect it was for all of this stuff? It was so easy just being able to grab it and have all of this right at my fingertips.

When I came home Saturday night, I decided I really needed to take it to church with me the next day. Just to try it out a different way, of course. :) I travel about an hour to church, so I take everything I will need for the whole day. This time, the bag held...

My wallet
makeup bag
toothbrush and toothpaste
straightener
comb
all that stuff in the pocket that I already mentioned.

Again, it exactly fit my needs!

I love the concept of having several small clutches or zippered pouches, and being able to throw them all in one bag. This time I only really had a makeup bag, but depending on your needs, you could organize several of these small bags and then just throw in the ones you need for a certain event! For instance, one bag could hold mints and gum, another could hold small bottles of hair or body care products, etc. There are a million and one possibilities!

So tell me, how do you solve the "what to carry" dilemma? Are you a bag lady? Or a wallet-only kind of gal? Do you do the lots of zippered pouches thing? I'd love to hear what works for you!

Psst! Similar bags can be purchased through my shop! :)

  1. This is cute. And we have the same straightener! I'm glad you had fun at teen camp, too. I missed being there. =(
I am totally a zippered pocket type of gal. I made Darius a diaper bag just so I could add all the pockets I wanted, hehe. And he loves it because there are so many neat things for him to play with, =)
